POSTERS & EVENT FLIERS
Ever since I started learning Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator in 2010, my eyes have been wide open for opportunities to help promote some of my most favorite artists, musicians, and local businesses.
Poster design allows me to play with color and composition, and I am always learning something new. There’s pretty much infinite paths to a desired effect with digital media, and finding the best way that works for me depending on the project is most of the fun.
One of my preferred methods of poster design is drawing the entire artwork (even text) with a mechanical pencil in actual size, then draw over those lines in varying widths of marker (usually black Sharpies), scanning it, turning the scanned layer on ‘Multiply’ in Photoshop, then and coloring it in with the Brush on a new layer underneath. This was my process for the Peacetree Music Festival and Kenosha Creative Space Beach Party posters shown first here – which I like to call it “tradigital” drawing.
